Ode to the Glen Echo trolley

April 21, 2026

The bottom photo of the old trolley from Georgetown to Glen Echo amusement park is a strikingly accurate rendition of a dream I once had years ago and that I remember well. I came across it on FB somewhere.

I was slowly trundling through the woods in an empty trolley, in soft hazy light just like that. It wasn’t scary, I had the overwhelming feeling in the dream that I had made it ok, that I was on my way to true peace, safety, and serenity. I woke up weeping happy/sad tears, which has never happened before or since.

It could be some kind of karmic resonance. My father told me he took that trolley on its last day of service to Glen Echo (on January 3, 1960).
